Jean served as a training officer for the South African Army Infantry School, before transitioning to a detective role within the South African Police Service (SAPS). After completion of his Advanced Detective Course he was transferred to the Diamond & Gold Branch, where he retired as a Captain. During his tenure in SAPS, Jean was a member of the task team that investigated the 1994 pre-election bombings.
In 2006 Jean moved to the private sector, working as a corporate investigator for local insurance companies. He initially focussed on personal lines claims, then expanded his expertise to commercial crime related claims as well as financial crime risk management.
Jean has valuable experience in the precious metals industry, where he assisted SAPS in gathering intelligence on perpetrators who were involved in a number of robbery incidents targeting businessmen and clients. He played a crucial role in managing risks associated with the transport of precious metals.
Jean holds a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Higher Certificate in Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation from the University of Johannesburg
